Custom Maternity Portraiture in Connecticut

I believe that every mom should have gorgeous maternity portraits.

Whether you are feeling that lovely maternity glow or feeling like you're not quite yourself, I'll be there every step of the way to ensure you not only receive portraits you love, but you feel comfortable and beautiful throughout the entire process. To help with this I also offer over 120 maternity gowns in many colors, sizes and styles for use during your maternity and/or newborn sessions - most are handmade in the USA.

Maternity sessions are offered both in-studio and at beautiful outdoor locations throughout CT and RI. Studio sessions can be held most any time of day. Outdoor sessions are typically held within the last 1-2 hours before sunset when the light is beautiful and flattering for portraits. I recommend holding your session between 28-34 weeks. Every mom is different. Generally this timeframe will give you that fully defined baby belly and avoid that uncomfortable late-pregnancy feeling.

If you've seen my studio portfolio and prefer this look over outdoor, just let me know when you inquire and we can talk about how to make it happen.

FAQ's

What do I need to do to plan for the session?

Once you’ve made the leap and booked your shoot with me, the fun begins! My goal is to get to know you and the things you

love in a casual way via message, call or even videochat so I can provide the best recommendations for your session. You’re not alone in this - I don’t expect you to know the perfect location for your shoot, exactly what you want to wear or to have a favorite hair & makeup artist in the area -- these are all things I help with. Ultimately what I want is for you to see how magical and beautiful you are during this time in life. I will go out of my way to make your dream maternity session perfect for you

What can I expect during my outdoor maternity session?

When you first see me at your session I guarantee I’ll be carrying entirely too many things. I’ll have my pop-up changing room and probably a few gowns in my bag that you’ve chosen to wear. I’ll help with wardrobe changes, smooth your hair and clothes as the shoot progresses, and guide you through a series of posed and candid shots as we move from spot to spot during the session. Will I be awkward, yes? Will I talk entirely too much? Probably. When we’re done I hope you feel like you had an amazing time -- I know I always do!

What can I expect during my studio maternity session?

Studio sessions are held at my cozy space in Niantic. When you arrive I'll probably already know what gowns you've had your eye on and will have some backdrops and accessories all out and set up for when you arrive. Because all of my beautiful gowns, fabric drapes and accessories are all within arms reach we can easily make adjustments to what you wear for your session and add items we think may bring the whole look together while you're there. I'll probably have my little fan going to bring some drama with blowing hair and I'll coach you through poses and looks to get you the most beautiful photos to remember this special time.

What happens after my photoshoot is over?

After your session I'll review all the beautiful images we captured and select the very best to present to you in your viewing gallery. There you'll see a couple of sample final edits and be able to choose images for your collection or make any upgrades. Once final decisions have been made, or if you've pre-selected a collection including the full viewing gallery, I'll get to work right away on hand-editing and perfecting your images. I upload images as they become complete so you're able to see and download them as soon as possible. If you're interested in a piece of signature wall art or an incredible reclaimed framed piece I'll include information on how to order those through me at extraordinary pricing.

How do I book my New England maternity photoshoot?

Just send me a note through my contact form below or at hello@alyinspired.com to get everything started! We'll talk about the process and make sure I'm a great fit for you and your growing family. Once we're ready to move forward I'll send over my portrait agreement electronically or offer to meet in person to go over everything. At that time a reservation fee of $200+tax will be due for any session and goes directly towards the collection you've chosen at booking. Of course upgrades can be made at any time.

What should I wear?

While I encourage and enjoy photographing you in your own outfits from home, a lot of moms come to me for my client closet of gowns. I currently have over 120 maternity gowns in many styles, sizes and colors. You can view every gown I have on hand here. As for dad and baby's siblings, I can help you coordinate a look that will make everything all come together.

What is the cost?

I offer maternity collections to suit every budget and fully believe in quality images over quantity. Please enquire for full pricing.
